The Hounds

September 21, 2009

hounds

Tonight the streets are red,
the lights are blue and blinding.
No sign of the Good Doctor,
but the siren’s wail and whining
Tell us he’ll be found.

I can almost hear the hounds…

What kind of man builds a machine to kill a girl?
No he did not use his hands.
Like a smart man, he used a tool.
But just the same,
How can you question who’s to blame?

“What was her name!?”

It doesn’t matter. Now listen…
The Good Doctor has to pay!

When I say he was a monster,
when I set fire to his name,
It does not matter where you hear it from,
whether truth or lies,
It gets said all the same.

Whatever’s on the table plays!

There is a flame I have been fanning.
There is a fire waiting to catch.
There is a hell that has been building
from the moment we first met.

If there ever was a time,
If there ever was a chance,
To undo the things I’ve done
and wash these bloodstains from my hands,

It has passed and been forgotten.
These are the paths that we must take.
Cause you and I, Tom, we are men
And we can bend and we can break.

If you think that you can run,
If you think that you can stand,
Well you forget who turned this city on.
You forget who plugged this city in!

They’ll not switch it off again.

One by one they’re tuning in.

Things I Have Nightmares About #1

As a graphic artist, I find this pretty horrifying, and I have to work with it on a daily basis.

I miss you, red.

The Great Misdirect

But the fire… continues to rise,
And it shows but a hint of the fear in our eyes.

Thursday was the birthday of two of my oldest friends- John and Rhys. Birthday shout-outs to them. Thursday started the same as they usually do- Jess, John, Rhys and myself met up in town for coffee and catch-ups in the morning, then around noon we all headed off to our academic obligations at TAFE, school and uni. After all that was done Jess, John, Amelia, Zander and I headed off on an adventure to Henley Beach for dinner and drinking in celebration of the most insignificant of birthdays- a 19th. One surprisingly decent meal later, we headed out into the cold with one aim in mind- get drunk. This never happened. Due to being picked up earlier than intended, we didn’t get drunk like we planned, but we had fun anyway. Then Jess and I went back to her place for more fun- watching the greatest film of our time: Back to the Future. It was a great night.

Those of you who know me will remember that probably my favourite album ever is Colours by Between the Buried and Me. This week, I discovered the name of their next album to be released in October, titled The Great Misdirect. Nothing more has been released regarding it apart from a few videos of the band faffing around in the studio, and this awesome teaser track.

ANTICIPATION

‘Nuff said!

In Exile

September 6, 2009

exile

I am an exile – a sojourner;
A citizen of some other place.
All I’ve seen is just a glimmer in a shadowy mirror,
But I know one day I’ll see face to face.

I am a nomad – a wanderer;
I have nowhere to lay my head down.
There’s no point in putting roots too deep when I’m moving on.
I’m not settling for this unsettling town.

My heart is filled with songs of forever-
Of a city that endures, where all is made new.
I know I don’t belong here; I’ll never
Call this place my home, I’m just passing through.

I am a pilgrim – a voyager;
I won’t rest until my lips touch the shore -
Of the land that I’ve been longing for as long as I’ve lived,
Where there’ll be no pain or tears anymore.

My heart is filled with songs of forever -
Of a city that endures, where all is made new.
I know I don’t belong here; I’ll never
Call this place my home, I’m just passing through.
